Matte Painting
During my junior year, I took an introduction to matte painting class. Here are a few matte painting projects I made in photoshop
Demerti
This is a matte painting for a conceptual Netflix original. it was made with photoshop and text was added in illustrator. The main story was to show a character discovering a strange place that was covered by two pillars.
The View
This is a matte painting that I made to show a person looking at the view of this fictional world that I created standing on a hill with an air balloon on the opposite side both facing the camera
With the use of the puppet tool in after effect i was able to create some slight movement with the object in the scene imported from photoshop
Outside
This was my final project which I made with photoshop but also animated in after effect.
First, I searched for various pictures online before creating a simple sketch of what I was going to make.
After creating duplicates and different sizes of the pictures above i ended up with this as the final image before turning it into a short video with after effects.
Final Note
Although matte painting is not a skill I plan to focus on professionally, this course was able to improve my photoshop and after effects skills and i believe matte painting could also be of help when trying to design distinct pictures which i could use in different projects either UX/UI or Graphics design.
